Everson's story is the river. The November 2021 flood damaged close to 300 homes here, and the December 2025 crest — which ran even higher than 2021 at the Everson gauge — put parts of town under water again. Flood-soaked walls fail from the inside out: wet sheathing, saturated insulation, and rot that shows up a year later under siding that looks fine. The housing stock is classic small-town Whatcom — homes from the 1910s–'30s near Main and Lincoln Streets, postwar ramblers on the farm roads, and newer construction built to the city's flood-elevation code, which puts finished floors above base flood elevation.
We open flood-damaged walls fully, dry and treat the framing, and rebuild with assemblies that tolerate the next wet year — and we're straight about when a wall needs replacement instead of patching. Permits run through the City of Everson, where floodplain rules add requirements most contractors never deal with.
…and everywhere else in town, plus the farm roads toward Goshen and the South Pass.

What Moves the Cost in Everson?
Every bid is measured on site and itemized — these are the factors that actually change the number.
Wall area drives material; height drives scaffold time. A two-story home near Downtown Main Street prices differently than a rambler off Lincoln Street.
Siding replacement →What's behind the old siding is the honest unknown — on a full-home re-side, sheathing rot repair is typically included at no extra cost, and anything past the sheathing, which is very uncommon, is quoted as a change order.
Rot repair →Hardie ColorPlus, primed fiber cement, or engineered wood — we quote options side by side so you see the real difference.
Compare materials →Combining siding and windows saves one full mobilization and gets properly integrated flashing — the cheapest time to do windows is during a re-side.
Window replacement →Everson Exterior Questions, Answered Straight
How Everson Was Built
Everson began a mile west of where it stands, at The Crossing — the most reliable ford on the Nooksack River, where homesteaders settled as early as 1858. When the Bellingham Bay & British Columbia Railroad came through in 1891, the settlement moved east to meet the tracks, onto land first homesteaded in 1871 by Ever Everson, and the earliest houses were what a farm town builds: simple wood-frame farmhouses sided in local cedar and fir.
The town that incorporated in 1929 had grown up shipping lumber, produce, and dairy by rail, and its housing core still shows those decades. Streets like Lincoln and Main carry homes from the 1910s through the 1930s — full-dimension framing, wood lap siding, wood windows, and usually no weather barrier behind the siding at all, because none was standard when they went up.
The postwar decades filled in ramblers and split-levels along Everson-Goshen Road and the farm roads toward Goshen and the South Pass, followed by '80s–'90s houses that often carry first-generation composite sidings now at the end of their service life. It has always been a modest, working farm town — which means honest scoping matters on every wall.
The river wrote the newest chapter. The November 2021 flood damaged close to 300 homes here, and the December 2025 crest ran even higher. Rebuilt homes follow the city's flood-elevation code, with finished floors set above base flood elevation, and exterior work across town now carries flood logic with it: assemblies that can dry out, flashing done to spec, and walls opened and documented instead of patched over.
